Island Jazz presents ES:MO at Lobster On The Wharf
ES:MO is Elizabeth Shepherd & Michael Occhipinti - together two of Canada's most imaginative musicians, with a combined 19 JUNO Award nominations! ES:MO fuses the skills of two of our country's most acclaimed jazz musicians with their love of songwriting, R&B/soul and atmospheric pop. Their JUNO nominated debut The Weight of Hope(2021) focussed on interpreting songwriters such as Stevie Wonder, Bruce Cockburn, Nick Drake, Gordon Lightfoot, and Leonard Cohen, while their newest album Sunshine In My Bones (2026) shows off the duo's magical songwriting. Michael Occhipinti’s huge palette of guitar sounds and versatile skills merges with Elizabeth Shepherd’s soulful and ethereal voice and colourful keyboard work, and the two create honest and emotional work that always leaves a deep impression.
The show will be presented at the beautiful newly renovated ‘Park Room’ on the second level at the back of the building, overlooking the Charlottetown Harbour, with an extended covered deck that stretches out directly over the water. The show will be cabaret style with a food and drink menu and service.

Island Jazz is your gateway to experiencing live improvised music in Prince Edward Island Canada. Island Jazz shows feature local and national musicians performing live improvised music in a wide variety of styles, in venues across PEI, catering to diverse tastes and highlighting local musicians. With three streams—regular shows every Thursday night at Baba's Lounge, innovative live improvised scores for silent films through our partnership with Roving Picture Shows, and larger concert events featuring national touring artists.
Since 2013 Island Jazz has been presenting music concerts in Prince Edward Island. Island Jazz presents a weekly jazz concert at Baba’s Lounge in Charlottetown – more than 450 shows so far as of August 2026. In 2023 Island Jazz began a new Cine-Concert services at venues across PEI with partner Roving Picture Shows, featuring musicians providing a live improvised score for a silent movie, usually once or twice per month. And our “Island Jazz Presents” series provides PEI opportunities for national and occasionally international artists to perform for PEI audiences.
Island Jazz Programs
- Island Jazz at Baba's Lounge: Every Thursday night around 8pm, join us at this intimate venue for a cozy evening filled with incredible improvised music, along with the great food of Cedar's Eatery. The atmosphere is perfect for relaxing and enjoying a blend of jazz styles from local musicians. Island Jazz at Baba's Lounge features top local musicians performing original music, jazz standards, pop and favourites in a wide variety of genres and styles. Each show features a different group.
- Island Jazz at the Movies: Experience a unique fusion of film and music as talented musicians present live improvised scores to classic silent movies, in our partnership with Roving Picture Shows. This innovative approach transforms old cinema into a lively spectacle, making it an engaging night out.
- Larger Concert Events: Several times a year, Island Jazz hosts larger concerts featuring national artists touring Atlantic Canada. These events are a fantastic opportunity to discover new music and celebrate talented performers.
