CBC’s “Hot Air” Shines a Light on Vancouver Island Jazz

April 14, 2009

hotairPaul Grant, host of Hot Air, the longest-running jazz radio program in North America, plans to focus his spotlight on the Vancouver Island jazz scene this week.

Grant will be featuring tracks from players like Marc Atkinson, Miranda Sage, Hugh Fraser, Ian McDougall, Phil Dwyer, Joe Coughlin, Karel Roessingh, and Noah Becker among others. As well, he will run a few clips of an interview he did with me today about this blog and about the jazz scene on the Island in general.

Grant is a big fan of the players on Vancouver Island and says he would really like to get over here more often, noting on his site that there seems to be “something in the water” that produces incredible jazz musicians here.

You can tune into Hot Air on Saturday, April 18 at 5:05 pm Pacific Time (CBC Radio 1) to catch the show. You can also visit the website at http://www.cbc.ca/hotair/
