Island Jazz

Island Jazz was started in March 2009 by Victoria writer Rick Gibbs to cover the jazz scene in Victoria, on Vancouver Island, and throughout coastal BC. The site features information on jazz events, runs profiles of musicians, and offers insight into all aspects of the west coast Canadian jazz scene.

Articles written by Rick Gibbs have appeared in Monday Magazine, Coda, Boulevard Magazine and Penguin Eggs. As well, he wrote, produced, and narrated Kindred Spirits, a one-hour CBC radio documentary on the musical relationship between guitarist Pat Metheny and Canadian guitar builder Linda Manzer. He’s currently working on The Perfect Guitar, a book scheduled for release next year. He lives with his wife in Victoria, where, when he’s not writing, he studies jazz guitar.
